BOARD MEMBERS
CAROLYN LEONE - PRESIDENT
Carolyn has been a Costume Designer for the film and television industry for 24 years. After many years of working in both Los Angeles and San Diego, with credits that include TWIN PEAKS, SILK STALKINGS, WISEGUY, and PENSACOLA WINGS OF GOLD, she was lured to Salt Lake City by Warner Brothers to be the Costume Designer on the television series EVERWOOD. More recent credits include THE MISTLE-TONES, HATCHING PETE, SNOWMEN, WIENERS, WAITING FOR FOREVER, THE GOOD LUCK CHARLIE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL and GRANITE FLATS. Carolyn appreciates being part of our film community, and is a member of the board of directors for Spy Hop Productions, a member of The Costume Designers Guild, teaches Design For Film and Television at The University of Utah, as well as happily serving on the board of the MPAU. BRITANI ALEXANDER
Britani is a second generation Transportation Coordinator and has been in the Film Industry in Utah for over 25 years. Since 1997, she has been growing an equipment business, On the Road, Inc, which provides trailers, trucks, and generators mainly servicing the needs for Base Camp on large and small film productions and commercials when they come into town. Her heart and soul is in Utah and she is proud to serve on the Board for the MPAU. BRYAN CLIFTON
Bryan has worked in the film industry for over 40 years. As the owner of Redman Movies and Stories, he has rented grip and lighting equipment to almost every type of production in Utah–from nine seasons of Touched by an Angel to 35 TV movies for Salty Pictures. Bryan is quick to offer his assistance with smaller productions especially student films. As a board member of the MPAU since its inception, Bryan lobbies each year in support of the Utah film industry. He’s also on the Board of Spy Hop Productions. |
JEFF JOHNSON - VICE PRESIDENT
Jeff has worked in the film industry for eighteen years. He is the lead casting director in Utah, having cast over 65 films and television projects, and over 100 commercials, including High School Musical, nominated for an Emmy for “Best Original Casting.” For the last 8 years, he has also worked with the Sundance Institute’s Film Lab, helping upcoming Directors find talent for their projects. Jeff is also an actor and member of the Screen Actor’s Guild. KIPLING HICKS - TREASURER
Kipling Hicks began her career in the Utah film industry in 1996 on the CBS television series “Promised Land”. She has gone on to a nearly 25 year career in film & television working with Academy and Emmy Award winning cast & crew on projects such as “127 Hours”, “Darling Companion” and the “High School Musical” film trilogy. Kipling has filmed in some of Utah and the world’s most remote & brilliant landscapes and is incredibly grateful for the opportunities and relationships the film industry has given her. Kipling’s latest ventures include Co-Producing the feature film “The Other Side of Heaven 2: Fire of Faith” and Coordinating the sketch comedy series “Studio C”. She is honored and delighted to serve as Treasurer of the MPAU. MATIAS ALVAREZ
Matias Alvarez has worked as a Producer, Production Manager, Assistant Director, Director, and second unit Director on a variety of projects from local and national television commercials, LDS Church projects, Disney channel television movies, short films, both independent and Hollywood feature films and most recently the Paramount television series, Yellowstone. Matias has been awarded three prestigious DGA Awards for filmmaking and has been nominated for five. In his decades of film production he has mastered the art of bringing high quality film and television projects in on time and on budget. He grew up in Park City Utah, attended the University of Colorado, Boulder and the University of California Los Angeles. Although he has lived elsewhere over the years, he prefers Utah as a home base and still enjoys skiing, and hiking in the Utah mountains. He is married to Julie Wrathall Alvarez and has four children. Matias is a member of the Directors Guild of America. |
CHRISTOPHER DEMURI
Chris DeMuri began working in the Utah Film Community in 1992. With a resume that includes more then 25 feature films in and out of the state, hundreds of episodes of network television, and dozens of national commercials. Past and present clients include: CBS, NBC, HBO, MTV, Paramount, DreamWorks, Fox Searchlight, Sony, Castle Rock, Disney, & the Weinstein Co. Chris is a member of the Art Directors Guild IATSE local 800. Utah is a great place to live and work. Most work opportunities in state are created by the lobbying efforts of the MPAU which aides the Utah Film Incentive Program. |
MICHELLE MOORE
Michelle Moore, founder of Moore PR Group, started working in the Utah film industry in 2011. She is an experienced publicist and media strategist focusing much of her efforts as a unit publicist, theatrical releases, DVD/streaming launches, and film festivals. Michelle has worked on projects from Purdie Distribution, Excel Entertainment, Covenant Communications, PureFlix, and a variety of other independent features and shorts. She’s presented on panels during Sundance, special workshops, and the LDS Film Festival. Filmmakers rely on Michelle to generate an abundance of publicity for their projects, and she delivers. The Utah Film Family holds a special place in Michelle’s heart and she’s excited to put her industry knowledge and experience to work as she serves on the Board of the MPAU. |
BILL OTTO
Bill teaches in the Digital Cinema department at Utah Valley University. Prior to his arrival here in Utah, he was a member of IATSE's local 728 in Los Angeles where he worked on productions as a set electrician and Gaffer. |

BROOKE REDMON
Brooke Redmon started working in the film and television industry in 2003 and has since worked with clients like Disney, National Geographic, Netflix, and many independent producers on projects all over the world. She has two Emmys for producing the series American Ride which has over 100 episodes currently broadcasting. As a board member of the Motion Picture Association of Utah she is a strong proponent of the Utah film incentive and the film and television industry in Utah. |
ROGER ARMSTRONG - LEGAL ADVISOR
Roger has been providing sophisticated legal representation to clients in the entertainment industry for more than fifteen years and currently operates his own private law practice. Roger practices transactional law with an emphasis on intellectual property in the motion picture, television, emerging media, publishing and advertising and marketing industries.
